With an impressive background in civil engineering, extensive experience in geotechnical and material testing, and a strong commitment to professional growth, he is poised to make a significant impact at PRI Engineering.
Personal Background
Can you share a bit about your background and what led you to pursue a career in engineering?
I immigrated to Canada from India to pursue a career in Civil Engineering. Since childhood, I have enjoyed constructing and fixing things, and my passion for building led me to pursue Civil Engineering.
What was your educational journey like? Which institutions did you attend, and what did you study?
I graduated in 2000 with a degree in Civil Engineering from GNE College, a highly reputed engineering college in Ludhiana, Punjab, North India.
Professional Experience
Can you describe your previous roles and the type of projects you have worked on before joining PRI Engineering?
I have worked on a wide range of projects in the fields of Civil Engineering and in Geotechnical and Material Testing and Inspection Services, both in India and Canada. I began my career as a field technician at Soil Engineering Ltd. and advanced to take on a Vice President of Material Testing role at Sirati & Partners Consultants Ltd. Throughout my career, I have contributed to various notable projects, including subdivisions, public works initiatives, low-rise and high-rise buildings, and site servicinge. Some projects I’ve been most proud to be a part of include the Terminal 3 expansion at Greater Toronto Pearson Airport and the redevelopment of Alexandra Park in Toronto.
What specific skills or experiences do you bring to PRI Engineering from your previous roles?
Starting my career as a technician has allowed me to gain a deep understanding of construction projects from the ground up. In my previous roles, my key responsibilities included resolving on-site issues, preparing proposals, training and managing staff, reporting, invoicing, and maintaining client relationships. My extensive knowledge in material testing and inspection services and experience in the field makes me a valuable fit for the PRI team.
New Beginnings with PRI Engineering
What is your current role at PRI Engineering, and what are your main responsibilities?
I have recently joined the PRI Engineering team as the Director of Inspection Services, where my primary responsibilities include leading the inspection services team and expanding the business in the Greater Toronto Area across both the public and private sectors.
Are there any projects at PRI Engineering that you are excited to be a part of?
I am most eager to dive into the solar energy industry and be part of the expert team at PRI Engineering who are shaping the future of sustainable energy. I look forward to expanding my knowledge in this dynamic field and contributing my skills and experience to drive impactful projects forward.
How do you see your role evolving within the company over the next few years?
I am committed to dedicating more effort to business development in the GTA while continuing to excel in my current responsibilities. My current goals are to drive growth, build strategic partnerships, and strengthen PRI’s presence in the region.
What do you believe is the key ingredient to a company’s success, especially in the engineering field?
My focus is on providing the best engineering solutions that are ethical, cost-effective, and uphold the highest standards of quality. I am dedicated to delivering results on time and within budget, without compromising on engineering excellence.
What attracted you to work for PRI Engineering specifically?
I aspire to work with a leading brand in the solar energy industry where I can further enhance my skills and deepen my understanding of this rapidly growing field, which is what attracted me most to PRI Engineering, since they are experts in the field.
Personal Interests and Hobbies
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies or activities that help you unwind from work?
I enjoy spending time with my family and find happiness in a variety of activities, whether they are work-related or personal. While I don’t have a specific hobby, I appreciate the joy in every experience.
How do you balance your professional and personal life?
I am fully dedicated to my team and projects during working hours, which enables me to consistently meet deadlines. Outside of work, I prioritize spending quality time with my family, ensuring I am present to meet their needs.
If you have a bucket list, what’s your top 5 items you’d like to realistically cross off?
Health, family, financial independence, professional career growth, and gaining respect in my personal and professional career.
Looking Forward to the Future
What are your professional goals for the next 5 years?
My most prominent goal right now is to grow within the PRI Engineering team.
How do you plan to contribute to the growth and success of PRI Engineering?
I am committed to securing public tenders in the GTA and establishing a fully equipped office with a dedicated lab in the area. I understand that Rome wasn’t built in a day, so this goal will take time and patience, much like building something great, but I am ready to put in the effort to make it happen.
